UW Health's psychiatry and psychology services emphasize assessment, treatment and management of physiological and psychological health. Our psychiatric staff provides a full range of services for children and adults through patient consultation, outpatient and inpatient care and programs.
Treatment and Therapies
A variety of therapies are available for individuals, couples and groups to meet the needs of patients. Psychotherapy - also called talk therapy, therapy or counseling - is a process focused on helping patients heal or learn more constructive ways to deal with problems or issues in their life.
Psychobiological, or biopsychosocial, assessment and treatment refer to the examination of mental functioning and behavior in relation to biological (or physical) processes. A substances abuse treatment program and a program exploring the psychiatric causes and ramifications of sleep disorders are also offered.
Inpatient Care
University Hospital has an adult inpatient unit for treatment of mental or psychiatric disorders that cannot be adequately managed on an outpatient basis. Learn more about inpatient care
