  • Spiritual Care Services

Spiritual Care Services staffEnvisioning the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics as a "Community of Healing and Transformation," the Spiritual Care Services department's chaplains and staff are available to support the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, loved ones, family members and staff.
With an interfaith, multicultural approach that emphasizes the dignity of the individual, Spiritual Care Services chaplains respect the spiritual beliefs and needs of everyone - from Catholics to Buddhists to those with no faith tradition.
Offering support during turbulent times, chaplains are specially trained ministers who work as part of a patient's health care team, believing that a person's spiritual and emotional well-being plays an important part in overall health.
The Spiritual Care Services offices are located in E5/620. You may also reach Spiritual Care Services by calling (608) 263-8574.
    Vision Statements
Spiritual Care Services at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics follows the following vision statements:
    • Concern with the dignity of people
    • To provide a steady course through turbulent times
    • To provide an enduring pastoral presence
    • To respect the spiritual beliefs and needs of everyone
    Contacting Patients' Faith Leaders
Besides visits from our chaplains, we encourage patients to call upon leaders of their own faith group to visit and provide support consistent with their faith practices. At the patient's request, chaplains can help make that contact.
If you are a patient or a loved one, call (608) 263-8574 to have Spiritual Care Services help you contact your faith leaders.
